Finding the Sunshine? Yep, I think I've got it now!

I haven’t done a post in a while, as my emotional state has been very “fragile” to say the least. We celebrated Thanksgiving Day at Sister Jan’s. It was very strange not have Grandma Amos there. Now the challenge is to keep the family close together, and not have us “lose the glue” that holds us together.

We spent the Saturday after thanksgiving going through all the belongings in the Melba house, and cleaning it out. “Wow”........ memory overload, and emotional fatigue! Thank goodness for Sister Bobbi… she is always the one to help us move forward. As she puts is… this is just “stuff”… the real treasures are still in our hearts.

After we got home that night, Mike and I found out our friend, Catrina Lee, her daughter Hailey was missing. She disappeared the day after Thanksgiving, and was nowhere to be found. However, last night (12.12.2009) after nearly 3 weeks she was found safe. We don’t have all the details, but feel that this was the best Christmas gift we could have been given.

I feel like I can now find some Christmas Cheer! We spend last night @ the Fireman’s Christmas Dinner celebration. It is so fun to see Mike as “Santa” and all the kiddo’s getting a visit from the “man in red”. The food was great, the friendship and camaraderie was so welcome. Of couse, we had snow coming down all day, so it really set the mood. This was in stark contrast to the below freezing temp’s the week prior.

I managed to take quite a few pics of the dinner. It too, was filled with emotion. Rick, Wayne, Sue, and Hank have all officially “retired” from the department. John Engle will now officially assume the Chief’s role as of January. It will be hard to imagine the department without Rick as the Chief, but life moves, changes and flows. I guess this will just be one more leg in the journey of our lifetime.

Now, I have to squeeze in some time to get my Christmas tree up, and start wrapping the gifts and finding the “reason for the season”. I am amazed at how the Lord can bring you Sunshine in the most obscure ways.

Here’s to finding the “Sunshine”… I’m so glad it’s back!
